Four dead after two cars collide on Nairobi-Mombasa highway

Four people were early Sunday morning killed after two vehicles collided head-on at Emali on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

Confirming the incident, Makueni County Police Commander Ole Napeiyan said the accident occurred when the driver of one of the cars, which was headed to Mombasa from Nairobi, attempted to overtake and rammed into another oncoming car.

The police boss also stated that the driver and passenger of the car which attempted to overtake, leading to the accident, died on the spot.

Two other people, including the driver of the second car, succumbed to injuries while being transported to a nearby hospital.

“This accident occurred because of human error; it was not as a result of any mechanical error or weather or road conditions. It was a human being’s fault,” said Mr. Napeiyan.

Bodies of the deceased have since been transferred to the Kilome Nursing Home mortuary.
