Four killed after car veers off Bondo-Usenge road, police say

Four people died and three others were seriously injured following an accident at Karemo junction on Bondo-Usenge road.

According to one of the relatives of the victims Walter Odek, they were heading towards Usenge when a vehicle that was ahead of them made an abrupt turn.

“The vehicle that got involved in the accident tried to make an emergency brake before it lost control and veered off the road,” he said.

Odek told Radio Ramogi that they were headed to a funeral in Usigu area when the Toyota Noah rolled killing four elderly passengers instantly.

He said three others who were in the same vehicle sustained severe injuries.

Bondo Sub-county Police Commander Ms Roseline Chebosho said the bodies have since been removed to Lwak Mission hospital mortuary.

Those who sustained injuries were rushed to Kisumu for treatment.

The wreckage is to be towed to Bondo police station awaiting inspection.
