Four killed in Liboi IED blast

Four people were killed when a vehicle they were travelling in was hit by an improvised explosive device at Algabay, Garissa County Tuesday morning.

The driver of the civilian Land Cruiser, who is a miraa trader, was driving from Kulan from Liboi on business when the when the car was hit by an IED, killing three people on the spot.

A fourth person passed as they were being rushed to hospital.

Police say the IED was meant for a security Land Cruiser that was escorting the civilian vehicle.

Quick Response Team officers from Kulan as well as Kenya Police Service and Administration Police officers from Liboi are at the scene trying to establish how the assailants made their escape.

The incident occurred at the same place where a Kenya Revenue Authority Land Cruiser was attacked last week, injuring six Kenyan security officers.
