Four killed in Nyeri road accident

Four people are feared dead and one other seriously injured following a grisly road accident which occurred on Tuesday, July 25, along Nyeri-Nyahururu Highway near Deadan Kimathi University of Technology in Nyeri after a lorry headed to Nyeri collided with three vehicles from the opposite direction.

According to an eye witnesses, Bernad Chira and Julius Kivala, whose vehicle was involved in the accident, the lorry was overtaking when it rammed into three vehicles that were coming from the opposite direction.

The Nyeri County Assembly Majority Leader, Duncan Gituanja, who rushed to the scene of the accident, blamed the death of one of the victims to delay by the emergency response teams saying they took too long to arrive even after being notified.

A survivor was rushed to Nyeri Referral Hospital.

According to Nyeri OCPD, Muinde Kioko, in a statement, the driver of the lorry was arrested and initial indications showed that the driver of the lorry was intoxicated.
