Four people killed as trailer hits motorcycle in Busia

Four people, riding on a motorcycle were killed on Tuesday after a trailer lost control and rammed into them at Esikulu area in Busia County.

The trailer which was headed to Busia town from Bumula lost control hitting the motorcycle killing the four on the spot.

Meanwhile, in Kajiado, 33 people were seriously injured on Tuesday afternoon when two trolleys rammed into each other at Singiraini village.

The accident is alleged to have been caused due to miscommunication by the relevant authorities on whether the road was clear for either of the trolleys to go through.

Kajiado County commander Joel Lang’at said that out of the 33, four people were said to be in a critical condition and had been airlifted to Nairobi for further treatment. 17 other people who were seriously injured were rushed to Kajiado Referral hospital.

One trolley is said to have been ferrying workers from Magadi Soda factory to Kajiado town with the other heading the opposite direction when they clashed at an interchange.

The accident came after three people died on Monday morning after a trailer they were travelling in lost control at Soliat Corners along the Kericho – Kisumu highway.

Kericho County Commandant Rose Muchuma said the trailer, which was ferrying soaps to Kisumu, lost control while negotiating a corner killing all the people on board.

In yet another incident, Ms Muchuma said a middle-aged man died after he was knocked down by a trailer near a petrol station along the Kericho – Nakuru highway.

In Nairobi, a lorry driver escaped death by a whisker after a passenger train rammed into his canter near Donholm estate in Nairobi.
