Four Police Officers Arrested Over Corruption Claims

The EACC officials busted the traffic police officers in the process of extorting money from matatu operators.

According to the EACC officials, the traffic police officers tried to escape but were later nabbed by members of public and taken to the EACC and probed before being taken to court.

Area residents have complained over harassment and corruption by the traffic police officers.

The government and the EACC have renewed efforts in the fight against fighting graft in the country.

ELDORET COPS ARRESTS

Last month, three Eldoret-based traffic police officers have been arrested on corruption allegations along the Eldoret-Kitale-Malaba road 

The three were allegedly collecting bribes from motorists.

A fourth policeman escaped when he outran the anti-graft agency officers.

There have been numerous complaints by the public in Eldoret of policemen collecting bribes from motorists.

Still last month, four traffic police officers stationed along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway were arrested by anti-corruption officials for allegedly collecting bribes from motorists.

EACC officials also recovered undisclosed amounts of money from the officers working at the Salgaa road block.
