Four storey house collapses in Kisumu, 3 trapped

Rescue efforts underway at a construction site in Kajulu West in Kisumu East sub county where a four-storey building which was under construction collapsed last night, trapping three masons in the debris.

Kisumu County Police commander Ranson Lolmodoni says a total of 6 masons who were involved in the construction at the site were trapped when the building collapsed.

He says the 6 were sleeping on the ground floor of the building when the incident occurred at around 10pm last night.

Lolmodoni says three masons who suffered slight injuries were rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital where they were treated and discharged.

Lolmodoni says a multi agency rescue team consisting NYS officers, Red cross teams amongst others are at the site to try rescue three others who are still trapped.

He says the three masons who were discharged are also at the scene already joining in the rescue efforts.
