Four suspected robbers lynched by mob in Mombasa

Four suspected robbers were on Wednesday morning lynched by an angry mob in Liwatoni, Mombasa.

The four were part of a gang that had invaded Amani Estate in the wee hours of the morning, armed with knives, daggers and machetes.

According to a police report, the gang got into the estate on motorbikes and declined stop at a security check.

They are said to have attacked the estate’s security guard, stabbing him in the belly severally during an altercation that ensued.

A second guard who witnessed the horrific attack raised alarm, alerting residents of the impending attack.

Residents of estate alerted to the distress call dashed to the scene and corned the four.

A video making rounds online showed residents descending on the robbers with blows and kicks.

A motorbike and assorted crude weapons were recovered by police officers who visited the scene.

The security guard who sustained injuries is receiving medical care at a local facility.
