Four Suspended KAA Bosses Reinstated

The board says it has recalled MD Lucy Mbugua, Procurement and Logistics General Manager Hoba-Diuah Orora, Finance General Manager John Thumbi and Corporation Secretary Katherine Kisila after completion of preliminary investigations.

The four had been sent on a 30-day compulsory leave from 19 February, 2015 to pave way for an independent probe into a deal KAA entered into with an international firm to setup duty free shops at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. 

This came after business man Kamlesh Patni announced that he had given up the duty free shops at JKIA after an agreement was reached between him and KAA.

KAA later announced an invitation to tender to international firms for the running of the refurbished duty free shops.

Lucy Mbugua was appointed KAA boss in January 2014 by Cabinet Secretary Michael Kamau after the board, led by Prof Mutuma Mugambi recommended her.

Ms Mbugua had been acting managing director at KAA since 15 August, 2013.
