The four teachers, alleged to have been conducting the tuition at Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA), Kikuyu Township, were arrested on Wednesday, November 23, following a raid by Kikuyu Sub- County officials.
Kiambu Deputy County Commander, Paul Famba, said they had received a tip- off on the illegal tuition from other teachers prompting the raid.
“We received a tip- off from teachers who were picking Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) papers, and we decided to find out ourselves,” said Famba.
According to witnesses, the raid happened at around 9:00 am, leaving the students with no option but to go back home.
The Kikuyu Sub County education officials claim they found 150 students in four classrooms, ranging from standard three to form three.
The four have since been detained at Kikuyu Police Station awaiting charges.
