Fun and dance at first ever Wimwaro Night

Members of the Embu community thronged the Night Digital City in Mwea Saturday night to celebrate the first ever Wimwaro Night that was organized by Wimwaro FM in partnership with Spex group Kenya limited.

Wimwaro, which is a vernacular station that broadcasts in Kiembu language under the Royal Media Services (RMS), brought together people from different communities who came to enjoy the night.

Njoki Njeru, the head of Wimwaro FM said: “This is the first time Wimwaro night has been held and from the reception by their fans, the next one will be coming soon and will be bigger and better.”

In attendance were Embu county government officials including County Assembly Speaker Kariuki Mate and a section of MCAs from Embu County.

The fans were treated to colour and splendor as both the young and old danced to melodies by various local musicians including Newton Karish and Mureithi John Walker.

Wimwaro FM presenters Betty Murugi, Morris Nyaga, Ben Wasaviru, Karimi Maggie, Wawira Mchapa, Muturi Mlipa and Kari Wangandu interacted with their fans and encouraged them to tune in to the station.

The director of Night Digital City, Njiru Mkombozi, who is also a Wimwaro FM fan, expressed his delight at hosting the first ever Wimwaro night in Kirinyaga County.

Mkombozi also added that he was also proud to unite the surrounding communities through such an event.

Following the grand reception from fans, Wimwaro FM management promised more entertaining Wimwaro Nights in the future.
