Gambia’s opposition vows to take country back to ICC

Gambia opposition leader, Adama Barrow, has called on massive support from Gambians to take the country back to the International Criminal Court (ICC), ahead of the country’s polls on Thursday December 1.

The Gambia leader, during a recent interview with the press in Gambia advocated the return of the country back to the court, to charge and convict all crimes against humanity conducted in the country.

“The ICC and Commonwealth and other international institutions are advocating for good governance – if you are doing that why should you fear,” commented the popular opposition leader.

Gambia, that became the third African country to pull out of the ICC, and the opposition leader aims to oust dictatorial governance of President Yahya Jammeh.

According to Adama, the country could receive liberation from the dictatorship of Yahya Jammeh, where he was alleged to have been involved in the arrest and death of yet another opposition member Solo Sandeng in April 2016.

Gambia’s president Yahya Jammeh has been accused by Gambians of illegal arrest and torture of opposition members trying to advocate for peace in the country.
