Garissa MCAs storm office over sacking of finance boss

Members of the Public Investment, Accounts and Finance Committee in Garissa County on Wednesday stormed the county treasury demanding immediate replacement of the County Executive Committee Member for Finance, Ahmed Aden, who was sacked on Monday.

The members of the committee lamented that it was wrong for Governor Nadhif Jama to appoint his deputy, Hussein Abdullahi, in an acting capacity.

Led by Noor Osman, the MCAs accused the Governor of being an interested party in the appointment of the finance CEC and demanded an explanation on how long the deputy Governor will hold the position in the acting capacity.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mogadashe MCA, Mahat Abdikadir, accused the Deputy Governor of closing sub offices and forcing members of staff to operate from the corridors.

A spot check at the County’s treasury on Tuesday revealed little or no activities with main offices, including that of the CEC, remaining closed.

Efforts to reach the Deputy Governor for a comment were unsuccessful.
