Gatundu politicians warned against hiring goons

Candidates contesting for various political seats in Gatundu South have been warned against hiring goons to interfere or disrupt their opponents meetings.

Gatundu South Deputy County Commissioner, Stephen Kihara, while addressing residents of Gatundu Town warned politicians against involving in politics of violence and disruption saying that security agents will not take it lightly.

He said politicians in Gatundu have been hiring goons to disrupt their opponents’ meetings with an aim of spreading fear.

Mr Kihara said that action will be taken against those found engaging in such vices saying that they risk disqualification.

Mr Kihara said they have information that since the completion of mass voter registration exercise, area youth have been forming groups to support candidates who pay for specific services including disrupting opponents’ meetings.

The Deputy County Commissioner said they will convene a meeting for all aspirants to address the issue.

The warning comes barely tow weeks after two youth groups crushed at a function in Gatundu Town leaving several people injured.
