Gem MP Elisha Oduor quizzed after allegedly assaulting blogger

Gem MP Elisha Oduor was on Tuesday interrogated by Kisumu Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) officers for allegedly assaulting a blogger.

The blogger Maurice Ochieng alias Don Pablo had alleged on his Facebook page that the MP had been arrested by officers from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC), a statement which the MP claims was not true.

The MP was captured in a video slapping the blogger after he stormed his residence.

Speaking to journalists after recording a statement, Ochieng said the MP accosted him alongside other youths.

The MP was quizzed over the incident for 5 hours.

According to the blogger, his Facebook post was after the lawmaker was spotted at EACC offices.

This happened a few hours after EACC raided the home of Kisumu County Speaker Onyango Oloo.

Several people allied to the MP are also alleged to have made calls threatening the blogger forcing him to pull the post down.

Kisumu County Police Boss Benson Maweu said the matter is being handled by the DCI.
