Gender CS wants Olomides Kenyan Visa revoked permanently

Gender Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki has called for the immediate deportation of Congolese artist Koffi Olomide over alleged assault on one of his female dancers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Friday morning.

In a statement to the media, the CS recommended Olomide’s Kenyan Visa be revoked permanently on account of his actions.

“Kenya does not condone dehumanizing acts against women. We hope that this action will be a lesson to him and others of his ilk that gender based violence will not be tolerated and all who engage in such archaic behavior will face the full force of the law regardless of their economic stature and economic standing,” read the statement in part.

Sicily commended the actions of the Kenya police service, saying the Congolese musician’s action was an insult to Kenyans.

“Violence against women and girls cannot be accepted in any shape, form or manner. It is a blatant violation of their human rights,” further read the statement.

Olomide was arrested outside Citizen TV premises Friday night for allegedly assaulting one of his dancers when he landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Friday morning.

“We thank all Kenyans who took to social media to demand justice for the victim and accountability from our authorities, ” stated Sicily in the statement.
