Girl hospitalized after being defiled

A four year-old girl is undergoing treatment at Kajiado county Referral hospital after she was allegedly defiled by a man above 30 years. The girl was defiled while she was on her way home from Sunday school classes.

According to Dr. Moses Ngugi of Kajiado hospital, the girl sustained bruises and medical checkup was done and other results are still pending. He condemned the police officers for not acting promptly before taking suspects for medical examination thus tampering with evidence.

Mr. Ngugi also asked the authorities to let justice prevail for the innocent, young girl. He also urged parents not to support the settling of such cases outside the court.

A group of women from the area led by the Kajiado Women representative Mary Seneta visited the girl and condemned the incident saying that minors were becoming easy prey for such men.

Ms Seneta added that the issue of rape and defilement in the area is so rampant yet the residents settle with each other by paying livestock in order to stifle the issue. She also threatened to storm Mashuru police station if the suspect is not brought to book.

According to Kajiado police county commander Joel Lang’at, OCPD Mashuru is reluctant and had not briefed his office concerning the incident. It was fruitless to reach the OCPD on phone although Kajiado county commissioner Harsama Kello confirmed the suspect is in custody.
