The United States of America and other foreign envoys have refuted claims by NASA that they are meddling in the country’s political affairs.

Speaking in Kabarnet, Baringo, US ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec said they are only interested in the development of the country.

He emphasised his country’s commitment to address the war on corruption terming it as a cancer that needs to be stopped.

“The US is absolutely committed to working with the government in dealing with these problems and to continue to build the country,” said Godec.

He added that the US has funded some development initiatives running into billions of shillings in the healthcare system, agriculture sector and in security.

Last week, a section of NASA supporters held a demonstration outside the American embassy in Gigiri, Nairobi to demand the resignation of ambassador Godec.

In a post on its official Facebook page, the opposition coalition urged its supporters to go to the embassy to call for the resignation of Mr. Godec who has been in Kenya since 2013.

The opposition has on more than one occasion accused the ambassador of being “partisan” in their quest for electoral justice.
