I got a suicide note from my son, MP Beatrice Kones reveals

Bomet East Member of Parliament Beatrice Kones on Saturday revealed that her son left behind a suicide note before taking his own life last week.

Addressing mourners at her son’s burial at Kaporuso village in Bomet East Sub County, Mrs Kones said Collins Kipyegon, 39, wrote her a message while she was out of the country on official business.

In the message, Kipkegon asked his mother to take care of his children, noting that he could no longer find the purpose of being alive.

“We were outside the country for a Pan African Summit meeting in South Africa, I got his message at night, I tried to call back but his phone was off,” she sadly recounted.

The late Collins Kipyegon, the third born of former Minister Kipkalya Kones and Beatrice, is said to have taken poison at his residential home in Nakuru County where he died.

Mrs. Kones appealed to the government to install counseling centers in each sub location to help give guidance to the youth.
