Govt Announces Measures To Boost Tourism Sector

President Uhuru Kenyatta has reversed the government circular that barred the public sector from holding conferences and other meetings in private hotels, in a bid to boost local tourism. In measures aimed at addressing the effects of travel advisories issued by western governments, taxes on flights booked at travel agents will be scrapped and landing charges at the Moi International Airport and Malindi airport reduced while companies can pay for employees’ holidays and claim tax relief equivalent to the holiday costs.
