Governor Kabogo Wants Senators Arrested over Incitement

In particular, the governor called for the immediate arrest of Nominated Senator Daisy Kanaiza, who reportedly incited traders against paying taxes to the county government and instead, to fight county askaris asking for the levy.

The senator is said to have made the utterances during the Senate committee’s tour of Kiambu County on a fact-finding mission over the levies.

The committee is said to have addressed traders in Thika, Kiambu and Wangige trading centres.

Speaking after meeting the clergy at a forum in Limuru, Kabogo said he was open to criticism from other quarters but opposed to incitement by the Senate.

Kabogo said he was disturbed by the manner in which members of the committee behaved and he will be seeking redress on the matter in court.

“I will not be intimidated by the Senate when executing my mandate as the Governor of Kiambu,” he said.

Kabogo noted that there was too much pressure from the electorate, adding that it was not easy to be governor.

The clergy had met the governor to discuss the fees charged to churches when holding crusades within the county and called on him to waive the charges.
