Governor Kinuthia Mbugua heckled by rowdy Jubilee supporters

Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua was on Thursday afternoon heckled by thousands of Nakuru residents at Pinkam, Nakuru County as he tried to address them.

Governor Mbugua had been invited by Deputy President William Ruto to address the crowd and to welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta. Howewver, before he could start speaking, the crowd turned rowdy shouting him down.

A seemingly disappointed Governor Mbugua held on to the microphone and tried to calm down the crowd but the unrelenting crowd kept insisting that he passes on the microphone.

After several attempts, Mbugua bowed to pressure and handed the microphone back to Ruto who invited lawmaker Gideon Mung’aro to greet the crowd before President Uhuru Kenyatta’s address.

Nakuru residents have accused the Governor of abandoning them saying that he is inaccessible. The business community in the county has previously criticized the Governor for allegedly attending the burial of a suspected Mungiki sect member who was murdered last month.

Kinuthia, however, defended himself saying that the deceased was his friend and was instrumental during his campaign period.

“My relationship with Joseph (the deceased) did not start when I joined government. He was always by my side especially during my campaigns and I liked him because of his good morals. He has been working closely with the county government,” said Kinuthia during the deceased’s burial.

His recently launched ‘Gavana Mtaani’ outreach program has equally faced intense criticism from residents who say it is a waste of public resources.

The Governor has blamed his woes on politics.
