Governor Lee Kinyanjui cautions Nakuru residents over rising COVID-19 cases

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has raised concern over the escalation in the spread of COVID-19 infections in rural areas in the county.

He said they have witnessed an increase in cases in Olenguruone and Subukia sub-counties that are far flung from the main commercial centres.

“The spread of the disease remains a key challenge to the rural elderly and more so, those with underlying conditions of diabetes and hypertension. It is therefore prudent that we undertake all necessary measures to insulate this vulnerable group from the risk of infections,” said the Governor.

Speaking in Nakuru county, the county boss urged residents to remain vigilant and uphold the Ministry of Health guidelines on prevention.

He said the county will work through the community health workers network to raise awareness among vulnerable groups and recommend necessary steps to help them reduce risk of contracting the virus.

Governor Kinyanjui said the success in managing the pandemic will be greatly determined by awareness of the dangers posed by COVID-19.

“The casual and reckless attitude witnessed among many Kenyans, will have far reaching consequences on infections,” he added.
