Governor Malombe to defend Kitui seat after winning Wiper ticket

Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has been declared winner of Kitui’s Wiper Party gubernatorial ticket after wiping out Senator David Musila in a hotly contested duel.

In the results, announced two days after the nomination voting was concluded, Malombe was announced to have carried the day with 88,382 votes against Musila’s 74,308 votes.

This comes despite the party summoning 5 of the 8 Kitui County Returning officers to Nairobi to announce the results following the controversial delay.

Wiper says returning officers from Kitui South, Kitui East, Mwingi North, Mwingi West and Mwingi Central failed to release results in stipulated time, prompting the move by the party headquarters.
