Governor, MCA ‘fight’ over microphone
A rally organized by Siaya Governor on Wednesday at Nyayo grounds, Yala town turned chaotic after it was disrupted by angry youth.
Chaos started after Cornel Rasanga forcefully took the microphone from area MCA Joseph Kawuor as he took to the podium to address the crowd.
The move enraged the youth who turned rowdy bringing the meeting to an abrupt end despite Rasanga’s fruitless attempts to calm them down.
The Governor tried several times to inform the rally of his recent tour of the US unsuccessfully.
The ensuing chaos forced the police, who were already deployed to the scene, to use teargas and rubber bullets to disperse the irate youth.
Governor Rasanga was swiftly whisked away into his vehicle heavily guarded by his bodyguards as an MCA armed with a pistol provided cover.
The chaos at Nyayo grounds was a spillover of tensions that had started pilling in the afternoon when Rasanga visited Mutumbu primary to donate iron sheets to renovate a classroom which had been destroyed by heavy rains when youths started fighting.
