Governor Munya is not the PNU leader – Senator Kiraitu Murungi
Meru Senator, Kiraitu Murungi, who is now vying for the gubernatorial post, has discredited Governor Peter Munya as the leader of Party of National Unity (PNU). This followed a rule passed by the Political Parties Tribunal pronouncing the current leaders of PNU null and void.
Speaking in Buuri Sub County during a rally, he acknowledged former President Mwai Kibaki as the authentic leader of PNU.
“Munya cannot describe himself as a leader of a party which he did not form and he should concentrate on Meru affairs and leave his ambitions of vying for Presidency as a dream which will never come true,” Kiraitu said.
Mockingly, he challenged Munya to be tactical and approach his presidential campaign with utmost gravity.
He asked the incumbent governor to campaign for his presidency across the country and not limit his bid to Meru County, asserting that Meru residents will not make him President in 2022.
According to Kiraitu, his presidential bid is a ‘dead end’ strategy to get re-elected in the August polls.
