Governor Mutua in trouble over Kalonzo land grabbing allegations

Machakos Governor, Dr Alfred Mutua, is a man under siege after a section of Ukambani Legislators went on the offensive accusing him of peddling lies about Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka in order to discredit his leadership.

Mutua has come under sharp criticism over his remarks before the Senate committee on Public Accounts and Investment in which he implicated Kalonzo in a land grabbing case.

He alleged that the Wiper leader had grabbed over 4,000 acres of land in Mavoko area.

Mavoko Member of Parliament, Patrick Makau, who was also implicated by Mutua as having grabbed the East African Portland Cement Company Ltd land, condemned the Governor for allegedly lying to the public saying that he (Makau) has no knowledge of any parcel of land in his constituency owned by Kalonzo or any of his associates.

The MP said Governor Mutua is out to discredit Kalonzo’s clean reputation with an ultimate agenda to derail his efforts to become the next president of Kenya.

MP Makau was speaking during a prayer day for Entumo Oolmakesen clan in Ilgarooj village, Kajiado West Constituency.

He urged the Machakos Governor to pay attention to his corruption cases before the courts.

Governor Mutua came under fire before the senate committee when he was pressed to substantiate his land grabbing allegations against Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

He was unable to provide supporting evidence of his wild allegations, which he failed, and was, therefore, forced to back down on his assertions.

The Mavoko MP reminded Governor Mutua that Kalonzo is a globally recognized leader pointing at his African Dignitary Man award, which he was conferred by an international humanitarian organization, We Care for Humanity, for his diplomatic acumen that help restored peace in the horn of Africa.

Kalonzo, who was also present, refrained from commenting on the subject, instead opting to address the run away corruption that has dogged the Jubilee government.

He said the menace has reached critical levels and is almost leading the country into bankruptcy.

He challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to crack the whip on the persons implicated in looting public funds saying: “It seems that those implicated in looting of public funds are the ones highly respected, this can never make a country prosper.”

Kalonzo faulted allegations by Jubilee leaders that a CORD government would scrap the positions of the chiefs and their assistants saying it’s a mere propaganda.

He termed the officers as very instrumental in maintaining security in the rural areas.

“Whoever will come to you with this lie tell him he is a liar, our chiefs will remain because they preserve respect in the grassroots and security in the grassroots,” said Kalonzo.

CORD leader Raila Odinga, while paying a courtesy call to Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto, on Saturday had condemned the Jubilee administration for retaining the former provincial administration system contrary to the 2010 Constitution.
