Governor Mutua instructs county staff to work six days a week

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has instructed his staff to work six days a week in an apparent effort to implement the county’s development projects.

The new regulation, which takes effect next week, will cover all senior county officials including himself, ministers, chief officers, directors, their deputies and heads of department.

Mutua also said the government would introduce performance contracts to be signed by all senior officers in two weeks’ time to enhance service delivery and efficiency.

“This Turbo Maendeleo Chap Chap method will run up to end of December, 2016 whereby it will be reviewed and intensified,” said Mutua.

Mutua also directed all senior officers to be on the field for a minimum of three days each week supervising projects and “listening to the needs of wananchi.”

“Ministers are to meet senior staff for a briefing meeting a minimum of once a week. Heads of departments will also hold meetings with junior staff a minimum of once a week to communicate the department’s agenda,” said Mutua.

Mutua was speaking during a tour of Mavoko Sub-county where he drummed up support for his Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement ahead of the next elections.
