Governor Mutua to run for presidency in 2022

Maendeleo Chap Chap leader and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has officially confirmed that he will be in the 2022 State House race.

Speaking when he unveiled his 2017-2022 Manifesto at Machakos University, Mutua said he is guided by his desire to propel the country to new heights through development and uplifting the live of Kenyans.

Dr. Mutua, who is seeking to retain his seat on an MCC ticket in the August polls, called upon Machakos residents to re-elect him based on his track record.

“I have traversed all corners of this country and everywhere Kenyans want rapid development. And because it is possible to transform this country to the 1^st world, I have after being convinced by elders and Wananchi from all over the country decided to run for the seat of the presidency in 2022,” said  Mutua.

The governor’s announcement complicates matters for Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who is expected to vie in 2022 following an agreement with other NASA principals.

Among the key areas Mutua’s manifesto is prioritising include Education, interest free table banking for women, construction and improvement of county roads, street lighting and creation of 250,000 jobs by 2020.

Mutua is pledging to introduce a higher education scholarship fund to pay fees for all form four leavers admitted for a certificate, diploma, higher diploma, or a degree course. The programme takes off in August 15 2017. The local bursary fund will be expanded from Sh80 million to Sh200 million, according to the manifesto.

The governor further plans to provide free health-care to all children under 6 years, pregnant mothers and elders aged above 65 years.

He will also introduce interest free table banking for women, and expansion of agriculture subsidy programme from 40 to 70 tractors, as well as provision of farm imputs. The manifesto show that 460 new boreholes will be sank, and the existing more lighting masts will be erected to improve security.

There is also a plan to tarmac 25 local roads and to build an international airport through partnerships. The governor further plans to set up a Bank of Machakos to ampower more residents economically.
