Governor Oparanya charged with incitement

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has been charged in court for inciting residents to violence.

Oparanya is accused of inciting to violence mourners during a funeral ceremony on April 24th, 2014 at Mabole village in Butere.

The court heard that the incitement by the Covernor resulted to torching of houses and destruction of property of one family that was accused of practising witchcraft.

Oparanya, who appeared before Justice Samuel Wahome, denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh 200,000.

The case will be heard on July 28th, 2015.
