Governor Rasanga wants MCAs to sign Raila ‘swearing in’ affidavit
Siaya County Governor Cornel Rasanga now wants the National Super Alliance (NASA) to bring the affidavits backing Raila Odinga’s January 30th ‘swearing in’ to Siaya County for Members of County Assembly to also sign.
NASA came up with an affidavit, which has already been signed by the coalition’s affiliate MPs, as a legal instrument which binds them to the resolution of recognising Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as president and deputy president of the People’s Assembly.
According to Governor Rasanga, the document should also be brought down to Siaya County and other counties as well, for MCAs and other leaders at the county level including the governors to sign them.
“Let’s appreciate the fact that the MPs have already sworn an affidavit that they will be looking at Raila’s eyes without looking anywhere else, so that the support that they are going to give Raila will be unquestionable. I want to extend the same request that those affidavits be made and brought to Siaya so that the MCAs that I have also sign the same. And I will be leading this process,” said the Governor.
Rasanga made the remarks in Ugunja sub-county where he vowed to obey every command that shall be issued by NASA leader Raila Odinga, adding that he is ready to transport as many people as possible to Nairobi on the ‘swearing in’ day.
The governor was flanked by Ugunja MP James Opiyo Wandayi who assured their supporters that Mr. Odinga’s ‘swearing in’ would not be postponed this time round.
Wandayi stated that the only person they recognize to have been duly elected by Kenyans on August 8, 2017 is Mr. Odinga, adding that they are not apologetic for refusing to recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He therefore called on NASA supporters to exercise the spirit of unity as they approach the ‘swearing in’ date.
