Governor Rutos post in NASA equivalent to Assistant Minister Jubilee

Deputy President William Ruto has asked Jubilee supporters to put the nominations behind them and focus on harnessing efforts to ensure that the Jubilee administration gets back to power with a better vote count than in the 2013 General Election.

Ruto urged losers in the just concluded Jubilee primaries to put their scores aside and support the chosen leaders to drive the development agenda.

“We have closed the competition phase, now it is time for those who lost to cooperate with those who will fly the Jubilee flag during the August elections,” said Ruto.

His sentiments were echoed by Jubilee Party nominee for Dagoretti North Constituency – Beatrice Elachi, who said all party members should concentrate on hunting for votes for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto.

While addressing Jubilee supporters in Narok South, the Deputy President warned Kenyans against judging leaders based on their tribal affiliations, instead urging them to evaluate leaders based on their development agenda.

“Kenyans should choose leaders who are devoted to changing their lives,” added Ruto.

He took a swipe at the opposition’s National Super Alliance (NASA) proposal to create the posts of Premier Cabinet Secretary and two deputies so as to accommodate all the five principals.

Ruto termed the proposal as selfish interest for a group of leaders at the expense of millions of unemployed youth.

“Kenyans already know our agenda. We have laid the foundation by constructing the railway, roads, increasing electricity connectivity and building technical training colleges and we will move ahead doing the same. Our competitors too have their agenda of sharing posts amongst themselves in Nairobi.”

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, faulted Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto, for being part of the ‘wicked power sharing cartel.’

“Even if my brother Isaac Ruto has been frightened by Joyce Laboso (Jubilee Party candidate for Bomet governorship) in Bomet, he cannot be frightened to go to take a post of an Assistant Minister,” said Murkomen.

Murkomen further took issue with the opposition’s coalition insistence of establishing a parallel tallying centre saying that it (opposition) wants to declared itself as winner during the elections.

“They want to replicate what they have been doing during their nominations whereby someone sets up his tallying centre, counts his votes and declares himself the winner,” he said.

He urged NASA coalition to accept the authority of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as the only electoral arbiter in the country and move into the polls without conditions.
