According to Wamatangi, the governor has been allegedly using tax collected from health department to pay road contractors something he says amounts to mismanagement.

The Senator told the county boss to stop leaning on “influx of patients from other counties” statement and instead focus on better planning and expansion of the county hospital facilities adding that any revenue collected from health docket should be channeled back to better health services.

Waititu has been under pressure since it was revealed that patients at the Kiambu Level V hospital are so squeezed they are forced to share beds and other facilities.

While defending himself, the governor, who was speaking to Kenyans in the diaspora, said the issue of four people sharing a bed is a sign that the hospital has good services.

“The bad ones would have no patients,” said Waititu.

Wamatangi further noted that Kiambu County enjoys top benefits from unconditional grants owing to the fact that its one of the counties hosting more patients from neighboring counties.

The Senator however indicated that the problem in the health care sector is countrywide blaming it on lack of good, sensible and proper management in the sector.
