Governor Wambora’s challenger decamps to PNU

The Party of National Unity (PNU), under the leadership of Meru Governor, Peter Munya, has received yet another defector from Jubilee Party.

Embu gubernatorial aspirant Kithinji Kiragu, who lost narrowly to incumbent Governor Martin Wambora in the 2013 General Election, moved to PNU citing lack of fairness and transparency in the Jubilee’s nomination process.

“Although I wanted to continue my political journey on a Jubilee Party ticket, I am concerned that nominations will not be a matter of fair competition,” he said.

Kithinji was, however, quick to pledge his to support for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in the August polls.

“I don’t leave Jubilee with any acrimony or bitterness, I will not only ensure that the President is re-elected but also ensure that PNU takes the day in Embu County.”

PNU party leader, Governor Peter Munya, said that the new arrival is a major boost to the party.
