Governors Continue Referendum Push

Ruto says the referendum being pushed by governors will see more funds devolved to counties to spur economic growth, especially in counties in marginalized areas.

Meru Governor Peter Munya has accused the national government of withholding monies for devolved functions like agriculture, roads and health for over one and half years.

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya dismissed claims governors wanted more funds remitted to counties for selfish gains, saying the referendum will benefit them, sentiments echoed by Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok.

The governors were speaking at the Turkana County tourism and cultural festival closing event.
