Govt Advertises Central Bank Governors Post

The post fell vacant after the exit of Professor Njuguna Ndung'u last week.

The next governor will now be recruited alongside a new CBK chairman and second deputy governor through a competitive process.

This is the first time since the CBK was established in 1966 that the position of the CBK boss will be filled through a competitive public recruitment process.

In the past, the holder of the position was always a presidential appointee.

On Tuesday, State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu said the President Uhuru Kenyatta will pick the CBK governor nominee from a shortlist of three candidates and forward the name to Parliament for vetting and approval, upon which the new CBK governor will finally be appointed.
