Govt commits to support IEBC ahead of August polls

President Uhuru Kenyatta says the Government will continue providing all the necessary support to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as it prepares for the Tuesday, August 8, 2017.

The President said all budgetary requirements of the IEBC will be prioritised in the next budget so that the commission can succeed in its mandate to organise free and fair elections.

President Kenyatta made the statement when the IEBC Commissioners paid him a courtesy call at State House, Nairobi, as part of their outreach to all stakeholders.

The IEBC team was led by the commission chair, Wafula Chebukati, who was also accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer, Ezra Chiloba.

The meeting was also attended by President Kenyatta’s adviser on Constitutional Affairs, Abdikadir Mohamed.
