Govt declares Monday a public holiday

Monday has been declared a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Adha.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery gazetted the holiday in Friday’s copy of the Kenyan Gazette.

Idd-ul-Adha is a day set aside for Muslims who are celebrating end of Hajj.

Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, and a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey.
