Govt Launches A Ksh 38B Hospital Equipping Scheme

This deal will see two public health institutions in all 47 counties fully equipped with state-of-the-art theatre equipment, surgical and sterilization equipment, laboratory equipment, kidney dialysis equipment, ICU facilities, digital X-ray machines, ultrasound and imaging equipment.

The managed equipment services project will be funded by national government at a cost of 38 billion shillings with international firms to be contracted to install, maintain and replace the modern machines at the chosen hospitals.

Speaking during the State House Nairobi event, President Kenyatta said the move is part of his government’s vision to transform the health sector.

Also present was deputy president William Ruto who said that the project will transform healthcare services urging parliament to hasten plans to transform NHIF into a social insurance scheme.

The function was however given a wide berth by the 47 county governors who were expected to attend.
