Govt lists its 14 quarantine, isolation facilities in Nairobi County

The Ministry of Health has published a list of 14 isolation and quarantine facilities within Nairobi County where patients can seek help.

St George’s Girls High School in Nairobi on State House Road will be charging Ksh.2000 a day and has 2070 available rooms.

The Nairobi School, Kenya Institute of Special Education, Kenya Education Management institute and The Kenya High School in Kileleshwa will charge similar amounts.

The following institutions will also offer facilities at a rate of Ksh.2000 a day: Lenana School, Moi Forces Academy Pangani Girls, Moi Girls High School and Kenyatta University CC.

Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) in South C will offer facilities at Ksh.3000 a day while the Kenya institute of Special Education (KISE) will charge Ksh. 4,000.

The Cooperative University in Karen will charge Ksh. 5,200 a day and has a capacity of 1,184 while JKUAT on Thika Road will charge Ksh. 4000 and has a capacity of 600.

Kenya now has 21,363 cases of coronavirus after 6371 more samples were tested in the last 24 hours from which, 727 people tested positive.

Of the new confirmed cases, 696 are Kenyans while 31 foreigners: 465 are males and 262 are female.

CS Kagwe stated that Nairobi remains a hotspot and Kirinyaga is also another county where infection rate is rapidly rising.

In addition, he noted that Kiambu, Machakos and Kajiado require strategic support as they are overloaded.

“We took PPEs to Kiambu county yesterday (Friday). Kiambu is in that state and needs national government support due to the number of deaths and cases,” the CS said.

County distribution of the latest cases is as follows: Nairobi 470, Kiambu 64, Kajiado 25, Kirinyaga 20, Mombasa 16, Migori 15, Busia 13, Machakos 12 and Laikipia 11.

254 patients have however recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of recoveries to 8,419.

88 were in home-based care while 166 were discharged from various hospitals.
