President Uhuru Kenyatta now says that the Government is doing everything it can to help mitigate effects of the ongoing drought ravaging various parts of the country.

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, said the Government will continue to expand the relief efforts so that no needy Kenyan is left out during the hard times.

As the country grapples with the effects of a severe drought that has hit parts of the country, putting more than 3 million people at risk of severe starvation, Kenyatta  affirmed that the ongoing food and water relief, animal off-take and cash transfer programs are constantly being enhanced to support Kenyans to overcome the current hard conditions.

President Kenyatta was speaking as he flagged off 150 tonnes of assorted foods worth Ksh 20 million from United Arabs Emirates.

Kenyatta added that the government will continue with its off-take for animals, water and food relief provision and cash transfer initiatives, appealing to international partners to assist Kenya with drought mitigation.
