Gov’t sets aside Ksh 300M to fight army worms

The government has set aside Ksh 300 million to fight the spread of army worms in various parts of the country.

The Ministry of Agriculture says it has constituted a multi-institutional technical team of experts drawn from the public and private sector to guide efforts towards management of this new pest.

Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Mwangi Kiunjuri, while opening the Meru ASK Show said the Ministry is facing a major challenge in controlling the worms.

Kiunjuri said climate change is the main cause of this calamity but noted the government is keen on coming up with a permanent solution.
