Gov’t to ensure banks adhere to reglations – Ruto

Deputy President William Ruto has assured Kenyans that the government is undertaking measures to streamline the financial sector in order to secure investments and create a fair and conducive environment for investment.

The deputy president said that the Central Bank of Kenya would ensure operations of banks in the country are above board to eliminate malpractices.

“Even as we do so, we will subject to the law those who use their positions to put the banks at risk and those who use the Internet or any other form of media to propagate and spread malicious rumors in the financial sector with the aim of causing unnecessary panic and anxiety,” Ruto said.

Meanwhile, Speaking at a separate event, DP Ruto thanked Kenyans who prayed for him during his six years of trial at the International Criminal Court (ICC) saying their prayers had been answered.

Speaking at the PCEA Mwiki in Kasarani where he attended a Sunday service, Mr Ruto said he had forgiven all those who connived and planned the falsehoods that were lavelled against him and radio journalist Joshua arap Sang.

“I wish to thank all clerics including pastors, bishops, Imams, and Kenyans at large for praying for us, and making Mr Sang and I to be acquitted. I urge you to continue praying for the president and myself to lead this country to greater prosperity,” he added.
