Govt to spend Ksh 319M in livestock uptake

The Government will spend at least Ksh 319 million towards the livestock off-take program, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, Willy Bett, has said.

The CS says the program targets herders in six counties namely Turkana, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo and Tana River.

Bett adds that the payout is intended to purchase animal feeds, provide water,and procure animal health care services in the Arid and semi-Arid regions.

The Agriculture CS was speaking during the official declaration of the Kenya Livestock Insurance Program insurance payouts for the 2017 long rains.
