Govt Urged To Increase Security In North Eastern

Speaking in Dadaab, the leaders threatened to ask area residents to start involving themselves in out-lawed practices, in order to compel the government to send more reservists to the region.

The leaders included Garissa County governor Nadhif Jama, his wajir counter-part Ahmed Abdullahi, Garissa County senator Yusuf Haji, Wajir County Senator Abdi-Rahman Ali Hassan, Dadaab Member Of Parliament Mohamed Dahiye, Lagdera MP Mohamed Shidiye and Garissa County women representative Shukran Hussein among others.

Haji said he would mobilize residents to start cattle rustling, which he said was a sure way of getting the government to deploy extra reservists to the area.

The leaders further urged the national government to devolve the full payroll list to each county, saying the counties from the region had the capacity to handle the responsibility on their own.
