Govt will not arrest drug addicts County Commissioner

Kwale County Commissioner, Kutswa Olaka, has assured 4,200 victims of drugs addiction in the county that the government will neither harass nor arrest them, but will instead go for the drug barons.

Addressing the press in his office in Mutuga, Kwale County, Olaka said that the government has laid down strategies to make sure that the drug victims are rehabilitated.

Olaka also gave notice to the drugs peddlers saying that their days are numbered.

The Commissioner’s statement was in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto’s pronouncement that the government will deal decisively with drug dealers.

Mr Olaka said that the government will arrest and prosecute all persons named or linked to drug trafficking in the country regardless of their positions in the society.

Currently, over 10,000 youth from the Coast region are fighting drug addiction.
