Grandfather, uncle arrested for defiling 11-year-old relative for 4 years
Police officers from Kathiani have arrested two men; a grandfather an uncle who defiled an 11-year-old on various dates between 2016 and 2020.
The two, aged 70 and 28 years old respectively were arrested shortly after they returned to their home in Kathiani.
The child’s mother says she noticed something was amiss after her daughter started sitting alone at home and dropped from the top of her class.
Concerned teachers also summoned her over her dismal grades where upon cajoling, she confessed to having been assaulted by her grandfather.
She also added that her uncle had recently started abusing her, and would thereafter threaten her with physical harm should she tell her parents.
At some point, the young girl while narrating her ordeal, fainted and had to be resuscitated.
Her grandfather has reportedly been luring her to bed using sweets while her uncle would give her money.
The girl’s mother reported the matter to Kaani police station before proceeding to the Machakos Level 5 hospital where her daughter got treated and tested for various infections.
The matter was also reported to the children’s officer in Machakos.
Citizen Digital understands the girl has since been rescued by children’s department and taken to the children’s home.
Emily Kimanzi the Machakos Sub county children’s officer led the operation ,flanked by officers from Kathiani and Kaani.
Kathiani Deputy OCPD John Kimanthi confirmed the arrest and said that the two supects are currently at the Kathiani Police station awaiting their day in court.
