Granny hospitalized after fire razes down her house

An elderly woman is admitted at the Nyeri County Referral Hospital with severe burns after fire gutted down houses at Ngangarithi estate in Nyeri County leaving hundreds of residents homeless.

According to one of the victims, the 10PM fire started in one of the wooden houses before spreading to other houses, which also serve as business premises.

The residents are now accusing the County Government of Nyeri for failing to put in place measure to arrest such disasters early enough.

“The new fire-fighting engines from Nyeri town bought at a tune of 40 million have been lying idle in the yard and they rarely help us,” one of the residents decried.
