Greek consulate’s wife commits suicide

A wife to a diplomat committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of a busy city shopping mall in Nyali area in Mombasa.

The Greece consulate’s wife who is over 63 years old died on the spot after she threw herself  from the balcony.

The 63 year old is said to have previously tried to kill herself on several times.

Consular Panayis Ch. Lagoussis who arrived at the scene after the incident declined to speak to the press on the matter.

However, unconfirmed reports indicated that the two could have had a long standing domestic misunderstanding which police were unavailable to comment on.

The deceased had been accompanied by the family driver who had also been assigned the duty of monitoring her movements due to the previous suicide attempts.

According to an eye witness Pastor James Dena Mwaringa, the woman jumped out of the balcony at around 8am.

“I was just from the church and was taking items to the store when I bumped into her.”

Dena also added that it was minutes later that he learnt of her death saying,” It seems that spirit of killing herself has been tormenting her as it is not the first incident.”

This comes shortly after a form one student at Namaindi Secondary School in Nambale Constituency, Busia County was found dead Saturday evening at her lover’s house in Emuhuyu village.

According to the village elder, Jonathan Karandini, the deceased’s body was hanging from a rope that was tied to the roof of the house.

Mr Karandini said the girl took her life after allegedly engaging in a bitter exchange of words with her boyfriend.

Further reports claim the two lovers were at one point suspended from school for indulging in intimate relations.
