Gunmen raid home amid wedding preparations, kill one
Shock and grief engulfed Seseik village in Bungoma County after a man was shot dead at his home while another one was injured during an attack on Friday night.
According to residents, the gunmen stormed the homestead of Elphas Nyokia at around midnight and shot him at close range before robbing the guests and relatives present of their phones and money.
The deceased is reported to have been hosting a party in preparation for a wedding that was scheduled to happen on Saturday.
This comes barely a week after five people from the neighbouring Masaek village were killed in a similar incident after gunmen raided their home.
Residents of Masaek are said to have been angered by the incident and traced two of the gunmen to Kapsambu village and killed them.
Cheptais assistant commissioner Stephen Momanyi has however urged the residents to stop further killings and find more amicable ways to solve their disputes.
